The Mother Church of Giurdignano, dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord, stands in the heart of the village. The construction began on September 4, 1756, directed by the master builder Martino Carluccio from Muro, and was completed in 1759; the dedication took place in 1763, when the church replaced an older building, dating back at least to the sixteenth century, which was then demolished.

The façade, made of Lecce stone, is divided into two orders marked by pilasters: the portal, topped by a sculptural group and a window, is flanked by niches with the statues of Saint Ambrose and Saint Augustine, while above, two volutes support the arched tympanum, crowned by a wrought iron cross.

Inside, with a Latin cross plan, the single nave houses six small chapels and ornate altars in the arms of the transept, in addition to the ancient Tridentine altar and the choir with a pipe organ. Among the artworks, the "Madonna of the Rosary" by Giandomenico Catalano and the "Immaculate Conception" by Oronzo Tiso stand out.
