The Castle of Caprarica di Tricase is a true fortress with walls up to seven meters high, located in Caprarica del Capo, a hamlet of Tricase, in the heart of Salento. It was built in 1524 by master Antonio Renne, as reported by an ancient inscription, in a climate of danger, following the sack of Otranto and the subsequent Turkish incursions.

With a rectangular plan and once surrounded by a moat, the castle is reinforced at the corners by four cylindrical towers, while the portal is defended by a triple drawbridge. Inside, there was a garden, water cisterns, and a small chapel dedicated to Saint John the Baptist.

Later becoming a noble residence and, later, a farmhouse, today it is a high-profile accommodation facility: twelve rooms with bathrooms, one thousand seven hundred square meters on two floors, and an external park of thirteen thousand square meters, including a swimming pool.

The name, from the dialect "capra ricca," recalls the pastoral origins of the village.
