The Granafei Castle in Cannole stands in the main square of the town, dedicated to San Vincenzo Ferreri. Built by the Orsini del Balzo in 1413 for defensive purposes, it was constructed in a strategic location, with a 360-degree view of the surrounding territory.

With a quadrangular plan, it still preserves today the robust sloping base walls and, at the corners, four guard towers once used for defense. The façade, divided into three parts, is dominated by an austere rusticated portal, topped by a long inscription.

Becoming a noble residence in 1583 with the Personè barons, the castle maintained its original appearance. The most significant transformations occurred in 1747, with the Granafei marquises: a new wing on the east side and a splendid garden, dominated by the eighteenth-century fountain of the "belvedere" and the family crest.

Today, the castle houses the Granafei Civic Archaeological Museum.
