Menhirs and dolmens Giuggianello

Il Dolmen Ore: una larga lastra piatta coperta di licheni, sorretta da pilastrini di pietre impilate, forma una bassa apertura tra i fiori di campo.

The story translated into Italian Sign Language by an interpreter.

The Dolmen Ore is located in the countryside of Giuggianello, near the Quattromacine farmhouse, and takes its name from the agricultural land where it was discovered in May 1979 by Luigi Corsini. It is a small dolmen about 90 centimeters high, with an irregular quadrangular capstone, 25 centimeters thick, supported by three orthostats: one monolithic and two made of stacked stones.

The structure rests on an outcropping of rock, where arrangements of boulders appear anything but random, almost forming a small mirror. Right in front of the dolmen opens a dromos, a long corridor now overgrown with brambles, while not far away stands a large vertical boulder, on whose surface a small cup mark of still uncertain origin can be observed.

Little visible from the country road that cuts through the land, the Dolmen Ore continues to hold, among the Salento countryside, its unresolved questions.
