The Shell and Coral Museum is located in Palmariggi, in the heart of the historic center, in some rooms adjacent to the Municipal Library, just a few steps from the Aragonese Castle and the Sanctuary of Santa Maria di Montevergine. Inaugurated in the summer of 2010 by the cultural association "Il Cedro del Libano," with the sponsorship of the Municipality and the collaboration of the socio-educational center "Il Bandolo," the museum houses over two thousand shells from around the world, with the most bizarre shapes and colors, along with a section dedicated to sharks and numerous varieties of colorful corals and madrepores. The path, nicknamed "Architectures of the Sea," takes visitors on a journey through the mysterious marine cities built by mollusks: from the most familiar Mediterranean species to the rarest and most exotic specimens, each accompanied by panels explaining their origin and structure.
